The Junkers A50, designed by Hermann Pohlmann in Junkers works, was the first sportsplane with a modern all-metal construction, covered in corrugated duralumin sheet, similar to larger Junkers passenger planes. Its maiden flight was on February 13, 1929, followed by four more prototypes to test various engines.
