Wedell-Williams Model 45 "Miss Patterson"
This kit of the 1/48 Wedell-Williams 45 is composed by: Main parts in cast polyurethane resin, 3D printed resin for the rest of the pieces and vacumm formed transparent plastic for the windscreen and decals for two decorations.
The Wedell-Williams Model 45, designed by Jimmy Wedell, made its maiden flight on June 28, 1933, showcasing promising performance with an average speed of 264.703 mph over a 100 km closed course.
Wedell-Williams pilot, John Worthen, secured a second-place finish in the 1934 Bendix Trophy Race with the Model 45. If it weren't for a navigation error, he would have easily beaten the first-place time set by the Model 44 by at least 50 minutes.
During the Thompson race, tragedy struck again when Doug Davis had an accident with the Model 44 and died instantly. Devastated by these events, the Wedell-Williams team disassembled the Model 45 and transported it to Patterson, where it never flew again.
